When I was around 6 my grandfather used to come to me every so often and say: “Hrair. There are 77 different types of crazy people” and walk away. For years I did not know what he meant by it. I kept wondering why he was telling me this. He was a very funny, witty, and sarcastic man but I still did not know if he was serious, and I was hesitant to ask.
Years later, in the early 2000s, I had been working with a client for a few years and had developed a good relationship and they put up with my sense of humor. They commented on my attitude and how I was able to deal with pressure and still have fun and a positive disposition. At the time, I had been working two shifts to meet the project deadline and on one of the second overnight shifts, I had sent an email update and signed it: “Sent from #26”. The next morning, they asked me about #26 and I told them about my grandfather’s comment about 77 different kinds of crazy people and said that there are 78 Hrair(s) in my head.
At first, I had named them all Hrair, of course. The problem was that they all answered at the same time and it was really loud in my head, so I decided to number them instead. Bad move. #1 has a big ego. 13 is depressed because 12 and 14 don’t like to play with 13 since he’s considered bad luck. 6 and 66 play together too much and that worries me since together they make 666 and all. 42 thinks he is the answer to life universe and everything. 26 is the one that comes to work as he is more of an extrovert. 😉
Why is there 78 Hrair(s) even though my grandfather said 77? Well, I think I discovered an additional one over the years. <wink> <wink>
PS. I created this image above, around 1999, as a self-portrait using numbers influenced by the story above.
