The Art of Listening:Ā How AI and Music Can Help Us Become Better Listeners https://eksperts.net/the-art-of-listening-how-ai-and-music-can-help-us-become-better-listeners/ https://eksperts.net/the-art-of-listening-how-ai-and-music-can-help-us-become-better-listeners/#respond Thu, 19 Sep 2024 12:09:00 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1868

Just because we can hear doesnā€™t mean weā€™re great at listening. And even if weā€™re good listeners, thereā€™s always room for improvement. Thereā€™s a ton of info out there about why listening is so important, but letā€™s dive into a fun example.

Remember when AI models used to mess up simple tasks like counting the Rs in ā€œstrawberryā€? Theyā€™ve come a long way, and so can we with our listening skills. Besides that, to get better, more accurate results, we need to provide additional details (parameters, prompt engineering). We need to ask ourselves, what other details we need to provide for the AI engine to better understand what we are looking for.

It got me thinking about this while listening to my music library with my various headphones. Each typeā€”wired, wireless, in-earā€”has its perks and quirks. Depending on the music genre, I pick specific headphones. Classical, jazz, live popā€”you name it, Iā€™ve got the perfect pair.

Listening to music this way has sharpened my listening skills. When I focus on different instruments like the guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, Iā€™m not just hearing the music; Iā€™m dissecting it. I analyze the production, the mix, and the arrangement to understand what the artists are trying to convey. This deep dive into music helps me listen better in conversations too.

When I talk to someone, I try to break down what theyā€™re saying, how theyā€™re saying it, what theyā€™re NOT saying, and the emotions behind their words. Itā€™s like listening to a song in a different languageā€”you need to understand the culture and background to get it.

Growing up, I learned a few languages, which helped me keep an open mind and absorb details better. Whether someoneā€™s speaking French or Armenian, I donā€™t just switch on my mental translation mode. I also switch to thinking in that language, turn on my knowledge of that language/culture, and tune into their unique way of expressing themselves.

Now, about the AK47 and M16 firearm soundsā€”yeah, I can tell them apart. Growing up and surviving through my teenage years in a political and civil conflict in a third-world country, I had to learn these sound signatures. This is my way of trying to take something positive from the terrible years and events of my teenage years. I do NOT condone gun violence. I learned from this experience that one aspect of listening is categorizing sounds with minimal emotional biases.

The point is, we learn from our environment, experiences, and open-mindedness. When we listen, we should minimize our biases and expectations to make others feel safe and open up. Itā€™s like listening to someone in a different language; we need to understand their words and where theyā€™re coming from.

So, letā€™s keep working on our listening skills. Listen with an open mind to better understand, ask the right questions, connect, and improve our listening skills.

Speaking of being passionately curious: (cont.) https://eksperts.net/speaking-of-being-passionately-curious-cont/ https://eksperts.net/speaking-of-being-passionately-curious-cont/#respond Thu, 22 Aug 2024 15:39:23 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1861 A little more detail on what this effort was:

I started with the idea of building an application using AI that will have the functionality of taking an input file(s) then have the ability to create a mapping of the transformation to an output file template. I am well aware that there are plenty of similar tools on the market. I wanted to see what I could do with or without AI.

Well, AI is great and doing things faster than us humans. AI has a vast library of knowledge of what is already created and categorized in its wealth of information scoured from the internet.

Having said that, we need to know, in detail, what we want AI to do. We do so by passing it very detailed parameters of what want AI to do for the output. Even after all of that, we have to make some adjustments and changes to what we truly want the output to do. After a few iterations, I decided to take this into my own hands and build from scratch.

By doing this, I was able to better understand the limitations of AI and the parameters I used. I also learned a lot about the full current processes to build and implement because I went through each step and overcame all the challenges and obstacles along the way.

Learning works better by going through it rather than copying and pasting. Similar to everything else I do; I dive in deep to better understand how things work so I can better understand and provide solutions combining my previous experience and knowledge.

I hope this helps clarify the approach and lessons learned.

I need your help to figure this message out.

“Love” left behind. This device is no longer detected near you. It was last seen near Home.

This message appeared on my phone on my nighttime walk yesterday. I am not sure if the universe is trying to tell me something, or the AI technology metaverse is tracking everything.  I also find it interesting that this message popped up during those two songs and I had my music player app on random. šŸ˜

Good Will Hunting – Park Scene https://eksperts.net/good-will-hunting-park-scene/ https://eksperts.net/good-will-hunting-park-scene/#respond Wed, 22 Nov 2023 14:58:00 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1687

This is one of my all-time favorite scenes from one of my all-time favorite movies. I have watched this so many times to keep track.  I was watching this movie again recently and this scene got me thinking about a couple of things that I want to share.

ā€œIf I asked you about art youā€™d probably give me the skinny on every art book ever written. Michelangelo? You know a lot about him. Lifeā€™s work, political aspirations, him and the pope, sexual orientation, the whole works, right? But I bet you canā€™t tell me what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel. Youā€™ve never actually stood there and looked up at that beautiful ceiling. Seen that.ā€

Good Will Hunting – Park Scene monolog beginning.

I feel the same way about AI and how itā€™s being glorified and used, that it is taking away from the real human experience and connection. Many people are focused so much on how to use AI to cut corners and improve income and engagement that they are neglecting to connect with their audience/potential clients. Yes, AI is beneficial due to the massive quantity of knowledge available, but we all know that knowledge is not wisdom.Ā

ā€œPersonally, I donā€™t give a sh_t about all that because you know what? I canā€™t learn anything from you, I canā€™t read in some f_kinā€™ book. Unless you wanna talk about you, who you are. And Iā€™m fascinated. Iā€™m in. But you donā€™t wanna do that, do you, sport? Youā€™re terrified of what you might say. Your move, chief.ā€

Good Will Hunting – Park Scene monolog ending.

We need to showcase firsthand experience, knowledge, and wisdom to infuse our individuality, character, and vulnerabilities in order for us to stand out and be seen as genuine. We all set boundaries in order to protect ourselves and keep harmful energy at bay. However, we must be cautious not to turn such limits into barriers that hinder good energy and people from getting together and sharing wonderful experiences.

So don’t be shy about talking about yourself. Share your ideas, feedback and criticism.  I appreciate the likes, shares, and interactions. I’m in and fascinated by what each of you have to offer, are thinking and sharing. I’m all in. ā€œYouā€™re move, chief.ā€ šŸ˜Š

Unveiling the Unconventional Journey with AI Tools. https://eksperts.net/unveiling-the-unconventional-journey-with-ai-tools/ https://eksperts.net/unveiling-the-unconventional-journey-with-ai-tools/#respond Tue, 07 Nov 2023 18:22:06 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1662

Let’s chat about all those posts that keep telling me that if I am not using AI tools that I am falling behind. Hereā€™s the deal: I dove headfirst into exploring them over the past year. And yeah, they’ve got some juice, but hold onto your hat. Itā€™s not all sunshine and rainbows.

Sure, these tools can be a nifty addition, but youā€™ve got to put in the elbow grease to make them dance to your tune. They sport this sleek, modern search vibe and a chatty interface, but here’s the kicker: theyā€™re more about churning out the recurring revenue than dishing out what we really need. That often leads to humdrum, cookie-cutter content that demands more fixing than expected if you want to stand out from the rest.

Itā€™s like a cookie-cutter songā€”starts out great but loses its groove and sounds like any other. Think about Google’s evolution, you feel me? What it was, what it’s turned into. It’s not hitting the high notes like it used to. šŸ˜Š

Hey, if you’re in the same boat, scratching your head over these tools, donā€™t sweat it. I’ve got your back. I can help you cut through the noise, figure out which tool sings your tune best, and get you up to speed.

Letā€™s break the mold, shall we? Unleash the potential of these tools without drowning in the fluff. I’m here to make the tech work for us, not the other way around. Let’s make waves together!

The Power of Adaptive Questioning: The Art of Prompt Engineering https://eksperts.net/the-power-of-adaptive-questioning-the-art-of-prompt-engineering/ https://eksperts.net/the-power-of-adaptive-questioning-the-art-of-prompt-engineering/#respond Wed, 02 Aug 2023 16:08:04 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1510

I was recently asked to explain, in plain English, what AI prompt engineering is and how I was able to quickly become good at it.

First, as humans, we have a responsibility and the decision that in every interaction we take part in is to make the experience nurturing and supportive.  If we are not ready and willing to do this, then we should not even try.

Second, one of the most important things that I have learned over the past few decades of talking to clients, partners and coworkers, is when asking the questions, I proceed to tweak the questions as we go along the conversation. It also helps to be self-aware and humble enough to admit we donā€™t always have all the answers, but we can work together to figure it out. This also helps make the conversation guide to improve the questions to better convey and understand. The conversation becomes more organic and varies each time because of the way a person answers, their tone, their choice of words, the progression of their answers.

In essence, their answers reveal a path ‘data flow’ that is specific to them, their business and the items they need help with. As the conversation progresses, paying attention to these changes and adapting questions accordingly is one of the most important methods to better understand and get a clear picture. This approach makes it easier to learn and teach each other during the discovery process. As we go deeper in the conversation, it makes it easier to narrow things down, come to a better understanding and hone the path towards an amicable solution. This also builds a good rapport, trust, collaboration, and relationship. Not to mention, that this prevents the dry templatized script or ā€˜salesā€™ pitch that we all have adverse reaction to and quickly tune out.

What does this have to do with using AI and how?  The strategy for prompt engineering should be similar to the approach described above.  As you analyze the responses, make adjustments to your requests, prompts, and questions to improve them and make sure you are heading in the right direction for your desired outcome.

Does this mean that I look at you all as AI when I talk to you?  Not at all, you all are much better to work with. šŸ˜Š

Whatever you need help with, whether itā€™s prompt engineering, AI tools training and implementation or your typical ERP, HCM systems, or marketing; just book a session and we can help you navigate through it.

From Spam to Success: Unearthing the Authenticity of Artificial Intelligence Tools https://eksperts.net/from-spam-to-success-unearthing-the-authenticity-of-ai-tools/ https://eksperts.net/from-spam-to-success-unearthing-the-authenticity-of-ai-tools/#respond Fri, 21 Jul 2023 19:47:02 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1480

This is another one of my favorite quotes and got me thinking about how true it is to this day and also applies to these Artificial Intelligence advancements. So, after trying out a lot of these AI tools for the past 8 months and here are some of my observations:

  1. You are going to get a lot of junk/spam emails after you signup for these tools šŸ˜Š
  2. You are going to go down this rabbit hole really deep and really fast.
  3. You will be able to do things faster but not exactly what you are looking for.
  4. You are going to be able to do a lot of things without additional resources. However, we will need to know/learn how to use these AI tools correctly which will eat up a lot of your hours to try to keep up with the rapid changes so you will need more resources.
  5. You are going to need to know or have a solid idea of what the results you need should look like so you can adjust and correct what AI gives you. Tweaking your prompts.
  6. One of my concerns is that these AI tools will be used as a copy and paste tool which will bring down the quality of work to a parity where itā€™s hard to stand out unless you tweak the results to be different. So refer to number 5 above.
  7. There are some who will gravitate towards the copy and paste from AI to increase revenue over quality and accuracy.
  8. Data in, data out. Fundamentally, AI is a newer variation of a search tool. When Internet Search started and indexed the internet things got a lot better for finding things quickly. However, over time, the first page is now mostly ads. There is a lot of inaccurate information on the internet now. This will happen with AI as well.
  9. SEO optimization currently controls the results in favor of those who invest money in it. The same will happen with AI.
  10. The backend of AI is the same data as the internet. We all know not all of it is good. Clean data. Depending on how these AI companies categorize their data could influence results. Not to mention all the ā€˜enhancementsā€™ going forward.

RCM HCM ChatGPT funny tagline https://eksperts.net/rcm-hcm-chatgpt-funny-tagline/ https://eksperts.net/rcm-hcm-chatgpt-funny-tagline/#respond Mon, 20 Mar 2023 02:11:12 +0000 https://eksperts.net/?p=1217

I’ve been playing around with ChatGPT over the past few weeks (nights and weekends fun šŸ˜Š ). In the past week alone, there have been some incredible advancements that will change the game forever. Here are a few highlights that stood out to me:

šŸš€ GPT-4: The next version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT 3.5 is here, and it’s game-changing. GPT-4 is multi-modal, which means it’s not just text-based – you can prompt it with photos, text, and documents. It can analyze, explain/describe them and take further actions. Some people have even drawn a website on a napkin and uploaded it to GPT-4, and it created the website within minutes! Talk about innovation.

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ’¼ Microsoft Copilot: Say goodbye to writer’s block with Microsoft’s new Copilot AI for its office apps. Whether you’re drafting documents, creating spreadsheets, or presentations, Copilot’s got you covered. But don’t just take its feedback as gospel – like any tool, it still makes mistakes. Use it as a baseline and modify it to your voice and needs.

šŸŒŸ MidjourneyV5: The latest version of Midjourney is more realistic and accurate than ever before. You won’t find any six-fingered hands here!

šŸ’ø AdeptAl raises $350M: AdeptAl is making waves in the AI world, raising an impressive $350M to fund its cutting-edge research.

šŸ‘„ Google and Workplace: Google’s AI features are now available for its Workplace apps, helping businesses create more efficient workflows and improve productivity.

šŸ» Anthropic releases Claude: Anthropic’s latest release, Claude, is a significant step forward in AI’s learning capabilities. The potential for this technology is limitless.

šŸ¦™ Stanford releases Alpaca 7B: Stanford’s latest release, Alpaca 7B, is a significant step towards more advanced natural language processing.

The exciting thing about these tools is how quickly they’re improving and evolving. But remember, the results you get depend on what you put into them. The more detailed and focused your prompts, the better the output. So get ready to unleash your vision, review and tweak the outputs, and watch as these tools continue to revolutionize the AI landscape. The future is bright, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. šŸ¤–
