Since this is for Suicide prevention Week. I am posting this even though It’s not an easy topic and makes some people uncomfortable, but it is necessary to openly discuss it. We cannot ignore it or think it does not impact us directly.
You see suicide is a leading cause of death for children and adults, spotting warning signs isn’t always easy. The hope of Suicide Prevention Week is to bring much needed attention. While nothing is a substitute for professional mental health treatment (see below for resources), there are many simple steps you can take to help yourself or encourage others to reduce stress, boost wellness, and restore your sense of well-being during difficult times.
Here is a live performance of “For Joe” by Ren – Ren – For Joe (Live Performance Video) – YouTube
When this song was released two months ago, it impacted me hard. Every time I listen/watch it, it hits me hard. Ren has a way of communicating sentiments and viewpoints in raw one-take live spoken word and solo piano performances that I hadn’t been able to do previously. It was more beneficial to me than anything else I have had help with over the past few decades. It helped me better cope with the loss of a very close friend and gain a deeper understanding.
I’m sharing in the hope that it may benefit others.
Are you in a crisis? Remember you are not alone. Help is available. You matter. You have value. You have hope.
